Being disciplined means saying no

Being disciplined is often equated with having self-control and staying on course despite distractions. It implies that uncommon willpower is required to be successful.

This definition misses the point, though, that being disciplined is more about maintaining focus than maintaining willpower. It means recognizing and saying "no" to other obligations and interests that can become distractions.
